The SCORE exchanges work on the basis of contracts signed once a year at the IFMSA August Meeting with other medical student representatives. These contracts are either bilateral or unilateral. The IFMSA SCORE website is available here for more information.
If you are selected and offered an exchange, the hosting NMO will organize a 4-week elective, accommodation for this period, and a meal per day (or monetary equivalent). In addition, social programs are usually offered.
You can find out more information about what the individual countries offer in the Exchange Conditions (EC) of the respective NMO. These include the cities & projects available, language requirements, course requirements, documentation needed etc. Applications that do not comply with the exchange conditions will be invalid.
Each country offers different departments and has different rules and cultures. You will be required to familiarize yourself with the application conditions of the individual countries prior to your application. You can find more information on this in our list of countries offered for Summer 2019.

Applications for an elective in the period of June - August 2019 are open to students from all universities in the Republic of Ireland (UCD, TCD, NUIG, UCC, UL and RCSI) from January 2nd, 2019 to January 13th, 2019.

Students in any year of their medical training may apply for a SCORE exchange.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
The official language of IFMSA is English. This means, no matter what exchange you are applying for, you will be able to communicate with your tutor in English. For some countries, knowledge of their official language is essential for communication with patients. All information on language requirements can be found in the respective Exchange Conditions - please take note of this beforehand when submitting your application.
costs
The application fee for SCORE exchanges is €580.
Upon acceptance of offer, you will be required to pay the amount in full before we send your Application Form and Card of Documents to the hosting country.
In case of cancellation, a refund of the application fee is not possible, unless you or the SCORE committee is able to find a replacement for your position.
